A qualified referral is often defined by whether the person needing the services is expecting a call from a
Member of the Chapter.
This is very important to stress to the new
members. Many are so excited to be a member and they want to
pass so many tips, but sometimes this can backfire. There is no
easier way to cement a relationship than by doing business with
someone in the group, and there is no easier way to destroy a
relationship than by passing a bogus referral.
It is important to know the difference between qualified and
non-qualified tips. If XYZ company has a grand opening sign in
front, is this a qualified tip? Only if the member has personally
spoken to Ms. Decision Maker of XYZ company and she has indicated
that she wants to do business with someone in the group or is
willing to take a call on the matter at hand.
